Born Under
January 18, 2009
After we had been talking about when Opal was in my tummy, she asked "Mommy, where did I come out?" We discussed anatomy for a while (She thinks it's a remarkably silly concept, and who can blame her? I've given birth and I still think the entire undertaking is physically improbable.) And then she asked again, "Where did I come out?" I was stumped. Didn't we just do this? "I mean, did I come out in a hospital?" "Oh, yes, in a hospital." "And was there a sign?" "A sign?" "Were there signs where I was born?" "I don't think so." "So I wasn't born under a sign?" "Ah, that's a different kind of sign, I think. Where did you get that from?" "Oh, I've been reading too much Scooby Doo, I think. Scooby Doo! Where are you!"
Read to and by Opal: I read 4 chapters of Searching for Dragons. She read Princess Kilala 1, That's Not My Cow, Sardine 2, a book of cartoons about Tok Pisin, and Molly Mullett. Some time back on a day I missed, I read her Hunting for Crows
The Running Book Count: 435 + 198 (last year 1170 + 121)
