Pause Yourself

Jun 14, 2009

As I was putting Opal to bed, she needed to go to the bathroom. She paused the CD she was listening to, and then said to me "Could you pause?" I pointed out that she'd already paused the CD. "No, could you pause yourself? So you're there waiting when I get back?" I didn't quite pause myself -- I got her some more water -- but I did come back.

It was Christine's birthday, and Opal took her a birthday card and a present. The birthday card she had asked me about; the present she came up with when I wasn't looking. The birthday card was very sincere, and I'm sure it's the only Barbie princess card Christine got. It may well have been the pinkest available card. Opal wrote Dear Christine and Love Opal and drew a princess on it. Then she wrapped the two best cherries she could find carefully in paper and taped them to the card. There's something Japanese in spirit about that, and Christine took it as intended.

Read to and by Opal today: I read a chunk of Jack Jones and the Pirate Curse. Opal read If You Take a Mouse to the Movies and Charlie Cook's Favorite Book

The Running Book Count: 211 + 59 (last year 1170 + 121)
